Rick was introduced to weaving in elementary school where the summer activity program encouraged the weaving of pot holders. The economic advantages to selling potholders was unforeseen by Rick’s mother and Ayers Hand Woven was put on hold for many years.

Rick has been spinning for 20 years and has been teaching spinning nearly as long. With the love of spinning, he spins all kinds of animal fiber such as various types of wool, mixed with silk, angora and cashmere. Synthetic fibers are also woven for sensitive skin.

Through the encouragement of his wife, Julie, Rick started to explore various weaving techniques. With a background in computers and business, talent and pure enjoyment was the birth of Ayers Hand Woven.

Julie purely enjoys arts & crafts along with figure drawing and painting. Weaving has become an extension of her passion for the creative process. She has been weaving since 2001 and has found there is no end to the variety of colors and textures in the fiber arts. One of her joys is discovering a new canvas each time she starts a weaving project.
